Architectural Copper

High-Touch Copper

Anti-Microbial

Love the warm glow of copper? Hate the constant cleaning?

Copper is a fantastic way to add character and beauty to your property, inside and out. You love the warm glow of the metal on your home. Unfortunately, copper tarnishes and copper with patina fades and spots. Polishing over and over again is impractical and frustrating. Everbrite Coatings can save your copper surfaces and make them look brand new again. Our special coatings are copper sealers and will protect copper from tarnishing for years.

For architectural copper, use Everbrite Coating as it has UV blockers to protect from sun damage and weathering and is an excellent copper protector. Use Everbrite Coating for copper roofs, copper gutters, copper deck accents, copper art and sculptures, weathervanes, copper mailboxes and other architectural copper.  Seal out the tarnish and oxidation on your copper and enjoy your copper long-term.

For copper that is high-use or high-touch, we recommend ProtectaClear or CrobialCoat, as these coatings are more scratch-resistant.  Use for copper sinks, copper counters, copper jewelry, copper railings, copper pots & pans, mirror polished copper and other copper that gets a lot of use and abuse.

CrobialCoat with Microban technology, will simultaneously reduce the spread of microbes while protecting the metal as well.  Use CrobialCoat for surfaces where germ buildup is a concern. Copper sinks, faucets, counters and other surfaces that are high-touch and need protection from microbes and bacteria.

FLAMED COPPER

Love the Beautiful Glow of Flamed Copper?

Everbrite will protect the colors of art or architectural flamed or flame-painted copper. For copper that gets a lot of handling like jewelry, ProtectaClear is recommended because it is tougher and more scratch-resistant.  *** Please note: Most colors show through clear coatings. Some delicate blue colors can be muted or can disappear because of the light refraction that any coating will create.  Strong blue or purple colors should still show through. Please test a small area first to determine how your flamed colors look.

DIRECTIONS for NEW COPPER

1. If you want to protect your copper while it is still new or if you want to "freeze" the color of the patina and not allow your copper to tarnish further, clean any oil or other contaminants from the metal. This can be done by simply wiping the metal with a solvent cleaner like xylene or denatured alcohol which can be purchased at most hardware or paint stores. The solvents will not remove tarnish, patina or dark fingerprints. These will need to be polished off of the surface. ***TIP: Use gloves to handle new copper before it is sealed or you can end up with dark fingerprints on the copper.

2. Once the metal is clean, Everbrite™, ProtectaClear®, or CrobialCoat® can be applied by several methods. It can be sprayed on or wiped on the surface with clear-coat applicators, fine brushes, poly-sponge brushes or a pad of lint-free white cloth. Let it dry and enjoy your beautiful copper weather vane, cupola, finial, copper gutters, copper rain chains, wind chimes and more!

DIRECTIONS for COPPER with LIGHT TARNISH

If your copper is tarnished and the tarnish can be polished off, then you can use any copper polish you like to polish the copper to the shine you like.  Our preferred copper polish is Midas Touch.  It is easy to use, is acid-free so there is no need to neutralize the acid.  We do have Kits with Polish that include Midas Touch polish, polishing cloths and include Everbrite Coating, ProtectaClear or CrobialCoat coatings to protect your copper long-term.

  1. Polish the copper to the desired shine and luster.  If you choose Midas Touch or another polish with NO acids, then there is NO need to neutralize.   **TIP: When you polish copper, the residue is always black. Just use a couple drops of dish soap to wash off the dark residue from the copper.

  2. ONLY if you use a cleaner or polish with acid, you must neutralize the acid before continuing.  You can use our EZPrep Neutralizer or you can use baking soda and water to neutralize the acids from the polish.

  3. Solvent wipe to ensure a completely clean and dry surface.

  4. Apply Everbrite Coating for architectural copper, ProtectaClear for high-touch copper or CrobialCoat for copper where anti-microbial protection is desired. â€‹

DIRECTIONS for COPPER with HEAVY TARNISH

If your copper is heavily tarnished or the copper is very old and no longer smooth, it can be difficult to polish off the tarnish.  HD Copper Cleaning Gel is an environmentally friendly, heavy duty copper cleaner.  It is a gel so it clings on copper roofs, copper gutters and will quickly cut through the heavy tarnish.  See How it Works Here

We do have Kits with Copper Cleaning Gel that include the HD Gel, scrubbers, microfiber cloths and include Everbrite Coating, ProtectaClear or CrobialCoat coatings to protect your copper long-term.

  1. Apply HD Gel - brush on liberally- allow to work.

  2. Once the HD Gel has worked, scrub off with a scrubber (included in the kits).

  3. If higher polished surface is desired, you can polish smooth copper.  **Tip: Polishing is NOT recommended for rough copper like older roofs or gutters and is not necessary.

  4. Neutralize:  The HD Gel is acidic.  It MUST be neutralized.  You can use our EZPrep Neutralizer or you can use baking soda and water to neutralize the acid.

  5. Solvent wipe to ensure a completely clean and dry surface.

  6. Apply Everbrite Coating for architectural copper, ProtectaClear for high-touch copper or CrobialCoat for copper where anti-microbial protection is desired.
